A visit to Plitvice Lakes was the main reason why we actually decided to go to Croatia. For more information about our 8-day trip, I talk on this page. Here we will focus on visiting the Plitvice Lakes.
If you want to order a comprehensive planning of your trip to Croatia or, on the contrary, learn how to organize your trips on your own, then you are here 🙂
Some information about Plitvice Lakes in Croatia
Plitvice Lakes is the oldest and largest of all natural parks in Croatia, the famous numerous lakes with emerald water and cascades of waterfalls.
The whole system of lakes is divided into upper and lower lakes, which as a whole form incredibly beautiful cascades. In addition, the entire territory of the park is immersed in greenery..

Through the park paths are laid, some of them pass directly on the water. It looks like this:

Practical information about visiting Plitvice Lakes
The entrance ticket for visiting the natural park can be bought in advance on the official website. The e-ticket will need to be printed and shown at the box office in order for you to be issued a ticket on the park’s letterhead.
There are two entrances. If you are limited in time, then I advise you to immediately go to the entrance number 1, because. it is closer to Main cascade:

Generally in the park several routes laidwhich you can find at the information stand at the entrance. Minimum duration – about an hour. The territory of the park is huge, so if you love nature and time permits, then you can consider a trip to the lakes, for example, for 2 days / 1 night. But in general, for a relaxed pleasant visit, I would recommend laying at least 4 hours.

Since we were forced to reschedule a visit to the park on the last day before departure, we had only 2-2.5 hours of time (I talk about this on this page). We immediately went to entrance No. 1, looked at the Main Cascade, walked to point P3 (see the diagram below), there we boarded a boat, on which we reached point P1, and from there we took a shuttle to entrance No. 1, where we left the car in the parking lot .

All transport in the park (boats, shuttles) included in the price of the entrance ticketbut the car parking was paid.
Tips before visiting Plitvice Lakes:
- Plitvice Lakes is one of the most popular attractions in Croatia. Probably only Dubrovnik can compete with the lakes in popularity. Therefore, there are a lot of tourists there. If you want to increase your chances of walking in a non-crowded park, then I recommend coming right to the opening.because the tour buses arrive a little later.
- If possible, then it is best to go to the park in rubber boots. Or at least waterproof shoes. Some trails run right through the water, which bubbles and splashes, so to avoid having to walk with wet feet afterwards, it is better to wear appropriate shoes.
- If for some reason you need to reschedule your visit to the park, then you can contact the administration and ask to change the date on the tickets. They went to a meeting with us and made the necessary changes without questions and surcharges.
