Today I’m flying to Hong Kongon the exhibition “Louis Vuitton: a passion for creation”. It will run until August 9th. Hong Kong Museum of Art. No need, I think, to make discoveries here – and so it is known that the history of the name Louis Vuittonthis great family brand, is a vivid illustration of the close connection between art, fashion and luxury. The last burst of Louis Vuitton activity in this sense was observed in 1997, when Marc Jacobs became the art director of the company. What names come to mind here first of all? Stephen Sprouse, Takeshi Murakami, Richard Prince – now they are definitely associated with this brand. And here is the event: everything related to the collaboration of these and many other artists and Louis Vuitton is collected in Hong Kong – sculptures, installations, illustrations, monograms, accessories, models and so on and so forth.
Jeff Koons, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Paul Chen, Kao Fei, Yeng Fudong, Andres Gursky, Bertrand Lavier, Christian Marclay are just some of the names presented in the project. The exhibition is open from 10 am to 6 pm, on Saturdays until 8 pm, closed Thursday. Details here.
One of the next reviews will be in the wake of this Hong Kong trip of mine, I will talk about hotels, where I stay and prefer to dine and dine in Hong Kongstay tuned for posts…
