But now the festival ends, and what should we do next in Denmark? The issue is easily resolved. And the answer to it sounds short: Fyn. Funen, the birthplace of Hans Christian Andersen. And where is hotel-restaurant Falsled Kro. 200 kilometers from Copenhagen. You rush past patriarchal mills, over beautiful bridges, past red-red poppy fields. Charming road. And here it is, the island of Funen. You cross it, stopping briefly in Odense (Andersen was born here), stopping by to look at the castle Egesköw and walk around the park around it (and if you are interested in cars, then go inside, there is a corresponding museum), and then, finally, you drive up to the buildings of the hotel-restaurant hidden among the maple trees Falsled Kro.
Everything here is very Danish: vaulted ceilings, whitewashed brick walls, wooden floors, a live fireplace with a large ax above it. First, you are taken to the aperitif. There, lounging in an old armchair, you drink champagne with boiled quail eggs, and lazily, slowly, look at the menu. After an aperitif, order homemade smoked salmon with cream and horseradish. Jean-Louis Leffroy, Chef of Falsled Kro, personally deals with it. Then, of course, wild guinea fowl. Guinea fowl breast in tarragon sauce. It is first thoroughly fried, and then stewed in white wine with herbs. By the way, lovers of hunting can shoot a guinea fowl personally. Funen is full of them.
It should be noted that the menu here is updated 12 times a year. For example, in July the dominant foods are strawberries, new potatoes, mint and pigeon. The latter forms the basis of an incredibly tasty specialty. Pigeon is simmered in a special oxtail broth. Boiled vegetables complete the picture, all this is set off by secret spices …
Since the restaurant is very popular, I advise you to book it right now, a month before the trip.
And a few words about the hotel. He is a member of the association Relais&Chateaux and, in principle, it may well be compared with a restaurant in terms of the degree of acuity of sensations … It has three buildings. I like The Inn building the most. It has the most spacious rooms, and some of them (they are the best, of course) offer a romantic view of the harbor.
