Welna Eco Spa Resort is an ideal place to improve the emotional background shaken by self-isolation, and one of the best suburban hotels in the Moscow region.
Welna (short for “wellness”) is about taking care of yourself and your health, mental and physical rest, reboot. This is what the residents of the capital come here for.
The hotel stands on the high bank of the Oka in the thick of mixed forest. Geographically, this is already the Kaluga region, but Muscovites, who make up the majority of the guests, will rather call it a distant suburb. The distance from the center of Moscow is 135 km, or a little over 2 hours without traffic jams.
Elegant Alpine-style chalets were built here in 2013, in subsequent years new buildings were completed and the old buildings were improved.
Today, on the territory of the park hotel with an area of 300 thousand sq.m. – 6 residential buildings and 6 separate cottages made of cedar and larch, a large spa-center, two traditional baths, a gym, a yoga house, several restaurants and banquet grounds, sports grounds, a farm shop, workshops and a “Japanese garden” – a small masterpiece landscape design in Japanese style.
In terms of area and equipment, the Welna near Moscow is not inferior to five-star foreign hotels, and you can relax here just as well.
But, of course, the main decoration of the Welna Eco Spa Resort is the nature surrounding the hotel. In summer there is a beautiful green forest, hiking trails and sandy beaches on the banks of the Oka, in winter there are snow-covered trees and picturesque ski slopes.
The hotel rooms are in perfect harmony with the exterior. Eco-motives, Scandinavian minimalism, natural materials – all this enhances the feeling of closeness to nature. Room size is small – on average 18-20 sq.m. The smallest rooms are the standart eco category – only 15-16 sq.m, but the absence of additional meters does not affect comfort in any way.
The type of food at the hotel is unique for the Moscow region – half board with breakfast and lunch. They are served as a buffet on the second floor of the restaurant near Rakita. The dishes are simple, without frills, but please with variety and high quality. On the ground floor of the restaurant – a la carte meals. The interior of the restaurants is designed in the general style of Alpine chalets, and the atmosphere is reminiscent of a restaurant in a ski resort somewhere in France or Switzerland.
You can also dine in a small and incredibly cozy restaurant “Senoval” for 30 seats. “Senoval” cozy invites with its floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows, an open wooden terrace overlooking the forest and an international menu. Here you can get acquainted with the fusion of various cuisines and trends from burgers to gnocchi and poke.
Welna is not inferior to the best hotels in the Moscow region due to its location, seasoned style and excellent infrastructure. It has everything you need for a comfortable and beautiful countryside vacation, and even a little more.
To be honest, I have special impressions with Welna. Right here in the winter
I married the person I love. We wanted a chamber country wedding and were looking for a suitable hotel in the woods somewhere in the suburbs for this. We looked at several options live, and with Welna we had love at first sight.
“What peace and tranquility is here. Rest for the soul!” my fiancé said as we made our way out, absolutely certain that we had found exactly what we were looking for.
This place really has a special magic: despite the fact that on the eve of the wedding there was disgusting weather – slushy, cold, and drizzling light rain, an incredible gift was waiting for us in the morning – outside the window was the very “winter fairy tale” that I imagined.
Then there were my unhurried preparations, a photo session against the backdrop of snow-covered trees, a wedding ceremony on the veranda with an illuminated arch, and a very soulful wedding evening. Expectation and reality matched.
For ourselves, we rented a studio loft room – it was it that was recommended to us as a room for honeymooners, and the guests were accommodated in standart eco rooms – they seemed to us a little more comfortable than usual standards.
In the morning after the wedding, we gathered with the guests for breakfast at the U Rakita restaurant, and after breakfast we went to relax in the spa complex, which deserves special attention. This is a building of unusual architecture with huge floor-to-ceiling windows. In addition to 3 swimming pools (outdoor, indoor and children’s), free access for hotel guests is a salt cave, hammam, Finnish sauna and therapeutic water procedures. For an additional fee, you can enjoy a first-class massage: anti-cellulite, relaxing or toning.
After the spa, we walked for a long time around the vast territory of the hotel. For us, Welna has become the perfect venue for a very important family celebration. We have never regretted our choice, and I definitely recommend her for weddings – winter or summer, large and small.
